What is an AC Air Condenser?
A air condenser (or AC condenser) is the outdoor component of an air conditioner or heat pump that either releases or collects heat, depending on the time of the year. The condenser fan, the big fan outside, circulates the air across the coil to facilitate heat transfer. The compressor can be considered the heart of the system as it compresses refrigerant and pumps it to a coil in the form of a hot gas.
Air condensers can handle different "tons" depending on how much square footage your house has. "Tonnage" describes the cooling capacity of your air conditioner. A typical 1600-1700 Sq Ft. home can take a 3.5 ton unit. Too small of a unit and the air won't get very cold. Too large of an A/C Unit and you can have problems with humidity and air not getting cold.
